Attempted suicide at Ross Corner
Police yesterday reported that a teenage girl attempted to commit suicide at her Ross Corner home late Thursday evening.
Sergeant Chrislyn Skippings, police press liaison officer, said police were called to the scene after 6 p.m.
Responding officers discovered that an 18-year-old girl had attempted to commit suicide moments earlier, said Skippings.
The woman was found with multiple injuries to the hands and legs, according to police. She was taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment.
In other crime news, police are investigating a shooting that took place at Blueberry Hill, Fox Hill around 7 p.m. on Thursday.
According to Skippings, a 28-year-old man was standing outside of his residence when he was approached by two masked men in a dark colored Toyota sedan.
Skippings said an armed man demanded cash. However, after being told by the victim he had none, the Fox Hill resident was shot in the hip.
The victim was taken to hospital via ambulance where he was detained in stable condition, police confirmed.
The suspects fled the area in an unknown direction.
Police also made a drug seizure on Thursday.
Skippings said police searched a bushy area off Dorsette Street around 4 p.m. and they discovered a bag containing ammunition, marijuana and a bulletproof vest.
No arrests were made in connection with this find.
