67 Haitians repatriated

 

The Department of Immigration has repatriated 67 undocumented Haitian nationals.

The group of 51 males, 13 females and three children were returned to Haiti yesterday.

The Department of Immigration said the group was returned to Cap-Haitien, Haiti on SkyBahamas and Cat Island charters.

The repatriation exercise began at 6 a.m. with the last of the two flights returning to Lynden Pindling International Airport at 2:18 p.m yesterday.

“Escort and security services for this repatriation exercise were provided by immigration officers,”said the immigration department.

On Thursday the immigration department said six Jamaicans five males and one female were repatriated. They were returned home via Air Jamaica.

Thus far in November, the immigration department said 217 people were repatriated.

“The Department of Immigration remains committed to the apprehension and deportation of all foreign nationals residing and working illegally in The Bahamas. We will continue to intensify our efforts to address illegal immigration,”said the department.
