New devotional book for men hits bookstores

In celebration of his 60th birthday and in time for the 2010 Yuletide gift-buying season, Albert S. Ferguson has penned and released a 305-page, hard-cover, devotional and motivational book for men titled”Devotions for Tender-hearted Men–Weekly theme-based Devotions and Meditations.”His book he says is his contribution toward motivating, strengthening and encouraging Bahamian men.

With this in mind, Ferguson donated 300 copies of his book to male inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison, as an aid to that institution’s holistic rehabilitation efforts. Prison Superintendent Dr.Ellison Rahming received the donation on behalf of male inmates who regularly attend worship services, Bible study classes and educational sessions in the various divisions of the prison.

Directors of three male rehabilitation organizations–BASH, Teen Challenge and Hope House(a half-way home for released, former prisoners)received free copies of the devotional book for their male residents. Ferguson also presented copies of his book to officers of the Royal Bahamas Police and Defence forces.

Apart from being specifically for men, this devotional book is different from others in that it is Bahamian, and sprinkled with Bahamian examples, expressions, sayings and vignettes which give the book a certain”down home”flavor, making it more engaging and enjoyable.

“Devotions for Tender-hearted Men”speaks to men who are being”tenderized”by the Holy Spirit. It features a theme for each of the 52 weeks of the year, with a number of devotions and meditations on the week’s theme, supported by relevant scripture readings and a prayer thought. It is anticipated that during a particular week, a reader would reflect upon a certain inspirational subject all week long, even if he does not read the devotional book daily. It is durable, and a handy size suitable for the glove compartment of a man’s car, truck or tractor.

In celebrating my 60th birthday in this manner, I feel I have completed an assignment given me by the Lord,”said Ferguson.”I am simply overjoyed at this.”

The book for men was in production for the past three years. Copies of all Ferguson’s books are readily available at the offices of Albania Christian Academy and some local bookstores.

A praise and worship church service, in celebration of Ferguson’s birthday will take place this Friday, December 3 at 7 p.m., at Golden Gates World Outreach Church. Ferguson is inviting everyone who knows him to come out and to be with him on this very special occasion.

Ferguson has published a series of three books on the subject of church leadership.”Devotions for Tender-hearted Men”is his seventh published book. As a recording artist, Ferguson is also known for his clarinet music which is aired regularly on radio stations.

“Devotions for Tender-hearted Men–Weekly theme-based Devotions and Meditations”will be sold for an introductory price of$20.
