Roots to perform first on Boxing Day

The junkanoo line-up is in.

The first major group to perform on Boxing Day morning will be Roots.

Roots will be followed by the Prodigal Sons, Valley Boys, Saxons Superstars, Music Makers and One Family, respectively.

On New Year’s Day, Saxons will be the first’A’group to perform. Music Makers, Valley Boys, Prodigal Sons, One Family and Roots will follow.

The Boxing Day Parade will take place on Monday, December 27, 2010, beginning at 12:01 a.m. and the 2011 New Year’s Day Parade will take place on Saturday, January 1, at 2 a.m.

In the’B’group category Fancy Dancers will perform first. New Conquerers for Christ, Colours Entertainment, and One Love Soliders will follow. All those groups will begin their performances on Bay Street on Boxing Day.

Culture Junkanoo Group, Original Congos, Body for Christ Crusaders, Red Land Soliders and Chipping Knights will begin their performances on Shirley Street in that order.

The results for the New Year’s line-up were not clear.

Group members chose numbers out of a box on Saturday around 4 p.m. at Arawak Cay.

Valley Boys won the 2009 Boxing day parade. Saxons Superstars, Music Makers, One Family, Roots, and the Prodigal Sons placed second to sixth, respectively.

Saxons Superstars took the New Year’s parade 2010. That group was followed by the Valley Boys, Roots, One Family, Music Makers and Prodigal Sons.
