Roadmasters shine in Florida marathon
1-ALL TOGETHER: A total of 24 members of the New Providence based distance running group, Bahamas Roadmasters, recently took part in the 131 Marathon in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Almost everyone managed personal best times.
2-TOP FINISHES: Sidney Collie, right, was the first Roadmasters runner to cross the finish line at the 131 Marathon in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, finishing in eighth place overall in a field of more than 2,700 runners. Collie’s time of one hour and 20 minutes afforded him first place in his division. He used this half marathon as training for the upcoming Bahamas Marathon in January, 2011. Philip Moss, left, clocked one hour and 38 minutes for third place in his division. As a result of such fast times, both men are now guaranteed entry into the prestigious New York Marathon in November, 2011.
3-GIVING BACK: Funds from the Roadmasters 3rd Annual Charity Run were donated to the Pilot Club of Nassau’s disabilities pool project and ongoing endeavors.
