In Your Own words(tag) David Johnson on The Bahamas versus Jamaica
Guardian Businessasked Director General of Tourism David Johnson about Jamaica being voted the most favorite destination by Caribbean travelers according to a Travel Weekly Magazine poll. Johnson was asked about their tourism model in comparison to The Bahamas’model.
“We’re not comparing apples with apples. Has Jamaica done reasonably well?Yes they have, but so have we.
:”Our strength and our success is in different areas. Jamaica is an all-inclusive destination and doesn’t have a whole lot of spend outside of the hotels. We have a different model than they do. We think that they have been successful with what they have been doing, but we are not going to emulate the Jamaican template because ours has proven to be successful.”
