Man found dead in hot tub at Sandals
A 33-year-old guest of the Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort on West Bay Street was found dead in a hot tub on Tuesday night, police reported yesterday.
The body of the man, who was not identified, was discovered around 11:30 p.m., police press liaison officer Sergeant Chrislyn Skippings said.
Details were sketchy up to press time yesterday but according to preliminary police reports, the victim was said to be swimming when the incident occurred.
Skippings said the man was taken to hospital by Emergency Medical Services(EMS)personnel where he was pronounced dead. She added that police are investigating the incident.
A short statement sent toThe Nassau Guardianby Sandals Resort officials offered little other information.
“Details surrounding his death are under investigation and no further information is available at this time,”the statement said.
In other news, police said a 23-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after he was shot multiple times around 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim was attacked while in the area of Dorsett Street in Fox Hill attending a party.
Police reports indicate that a black Honda Accord pulled up and the occupants of the vehicle fired gunshots at a group of people.
As a result, the male resident of Farrington Road, was injured. No one else was shot.
Police are investigating that incident, Skippings said.
Police are also continuing to investigate the discovery of an illegal firearm and drugs.
Police made the drug and arms find sometime around 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
Sergeant Skippings said officers of the mobile division were on patrol in the area of Wulff Road and Market Street when they observed the occupant of a white 2000 Dodge Caravan”acting suspiciously.”
Police said the mobile officers stopped the van, conducted a search of it and recovered a quantity of suspected marijuana and a shotgun.
As a result, a 43-year-old male of Cowpen Road was taken into custody.
