Don’t die with your dream unlived
On a recent edition of the program’Mansbridge—-one on one’on CBC, Host Peter Mansbridge was interviewing Author Lindsay Green whose latest book titled’You may live a long time—-are you ready?’has just been published. By way of research for the book, Ms. Green interviewed a whole lot of Senior Citizens across Canada, to ascertain how they were living their life during their’Twilight Years’. She found out what made them happy, and what regrets they may have had. She found that some people regretted the fact, that they had not achieved some of the things which they really wanted to do when they were younger.
Toward the end of the program Host Mansbridge asked Author Green if she had any advice for people who were, as he put it, getting on in years, as they approached the Autumn of their Life. In reply to that question Author Green uttered the phrase which is the title of this article’Don t die with your dream unlived’. Wow!That’s a powerful reminder to all of us to live our dreams and thus not get to the end of our life having not achieved what we so dearly wanted to.
In other words, if we don’t want to get to a point in our life where we greatly regret that we didn’t do something which we really wanted to; let’s start working toward realizing all of our goals, one by one. Let’s stop procrastinating, stop constantly putting things on the back burner, so to speak, lest we get to a point in our life when we are literally full of regrets.
In a lecture which Dr. Wayne Dyer gave on PBS some time ago, he addressed the same subject and used the following phrase. He said, I believe actually quoting someone else’Don’t die with your music still in you’. Yes My Friend, today is the day for you to redouble your efforts to achieve many of those lofty goals you set for yourself in your mind several years ago. Today’s the day to perhaps start over, so that in later years, you do not have any regrets.
Now, I know that a whole lot of people will like what I’ve written here today, and that’s all well and good; However, what I really want you to do RIGHT NOW, is to take the necessary ACTION to actually make your dreams come true. That’s right, I want you to reactivate many of the goals you set for yourself years ago, so that as you approach your’Twilight Years’, you will most definitely not have any regrets.
Don’t ever forget, that God put the dream in your heart in the first place, and He would not have put it there unless He knew that you were quite capable of achieving it. So, today is the day when you restart your never-ending journey on the road to success, so that you quite definitely don’t have any regrets, as you approach your final destination.
THINK ABOUT IT!
