Man shot multiple times

A man sitting in a vehicle in the Florida Court area in Englerston was shot Thursday afternoon by a man armed with a shotgun, according to police.

The shooting occurred in the area, which is off Robinson Road, around 5:15 p.m.

Police said the 21-year-old victim was shot in the hand and leg. He was transported to hospital via ambulance for treatment and was last listed as in serious condition.

The gunman fled the area through a nearby track road, police said.

Police are also investigating two armed robberies that took place in southwestern New Providence on Thursday night.

Two men robbed a bus driver of cash and cell phones in the area of Lazaretto and Carmichael Roads around 7 p.m. Police said one of the men was armed with a handgun.

Two hours later there was an armed home invasion in the same area committed by men fitting the same description as those involved in the earlier robbery.

The men entered the residence and demanded cash from a female resident, police said. The victim told the men she had no cash and was subsequently robbed of a cell phone, according to police.

Another shooting took place yesterday at Soldier Road around 1 a.m.

Police said a 32-year-old man was standing outside his residence when a gunman approached demanding cash. The victim reportedly told the gunman he had no cash and was subsequently shot in the thigh.

The victim was taken to hospital via ambulance where he is detained in serious condition, police said.
