Randy Butler on the aviation industry
President of SkyBahamas Randy Butler spoke withGuardian Businessrecently and expressed his concerns about the aviation industry in regards to smaller domestic services:
“We don’t have the influential people lobbying for us. We have people debating over the Air Passenger Duty over in the U.K. but we’re over here raising fees. The small airline is being overlooked and no form of dialog between us and the government is hurting us as a whole.
“Bahamasair isn’t feeling the same effects as us, but we service more Family Island destinations than them and we do more charitable work than them. The road becomes even tougher for my company along with other small carriers because we’re in a situation where we don’t have strong communication with the government and we just have to see what the way forward is.”
