Two weekend murders
A man was riddled with bullets in front of a Soldier Road home on Saturday-marking the second homicide for the year.
According to preliminary police reports, police received information about the shooting around 6:40 that evening. When officers arrived on the scene they discovered the man’s body slumped on the porch of the home which is located on Bishop Way, Windsor Place, off Soldier Road.
Emergency medical services personnel were summoned but the victim was already dead on the scene. He was shot multiple times about the body.
The man, whose identity has yet to be released by police, is said to be in his thirties.
Police say they are questioning a 21-year-old male in connection with this incident.
Following that incident another murder occurred in the area of Wulff and Kemp Roads on Sunday night, Details remained sketchy up to press time, but according to police a female was the victim.
This incidents follow the police’sdiscovery of the lifeless body of a 40-year-old man at about 10:20 a.m. behind Burger Barn on Carmichael Road on Thursday.
Initially police had classified the death as suspicious, but it has since been reclassified as a homicide.
The victim’s cousin, Sheila Douglas, who was on the scene, said officers suspect he might have been dead for more than 24 hours before he was found.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call and discovered the man wearing a blue shirt and short gray pants, laying on a makeshift bed, with injuries to his back.
Police would not say what may have caused the injuries.
Douglas said her cousin was the grounds keeper at the building where he was found dead.
In other crime news, a man has been detained in hospital after he was stabbed during a reported attempted robbery on Saturday, police said.
Reports indicate that sometime around 7:40 p.m., a 19-year-old male of Nassau Village was walking in the area of Soldier Road east of East Street when he was approached by three males who attempted to rob him.
“A struggle ensued between the victim and culprits, which resulted in the victim being stabbed multiple times to the body,”police said.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance where he is detained in stable condition.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
