Student stabbed at school
A 14-year-old ninth grade male student was stabbed multiple times yesterday at T.A. Thompson Junior High School.
Another 14-year-old male student from the school was taken into police custody for questioning in connection with the stabbing.
According to school officials, the stabbing is related to a fight that started on Monday.
Sources said there was an argument between boys at the school over a family member. A sister of one of the boys was assaulted during this argument, sources said.
The victim was stabbed three times during morning break on the school grounds around 11:40 a.m., police said. He was stabbed in his shoulder, arm and thigh.
WhenThe Nassau Guardianarrived at the Oakes Field school the victim was walking into an ambulance with the assistance of emergency medical services(EMS)personnel.
The boy carried his bloodstained uniform shirt and a part of his pants in his hands. Paramedics bandaged his wounds before he was taken to hospital.
Minutes after the victim was escorted out of the school’s office and into the ambulance, the other 14-year-old boy was placed in a police car and taken into custody for questioning. His shirt was also stained with blood.
The Guardianunderstands that the victim’s injuries are not life threatening.
