Man’s body found at Culmersville

The body of a man was discovered yesterday in the Culmersville area with what police suspect are injuries inflicted by insects or rodents.

Police were called to an abandoned pink and white house at Royal Palm Street after 3 p.m. where the body of a man suspected to be in his 50s was discovered. The man appeared to have been dead for at least 12 hours before being found, police confirmed.

Inspector Solomon Cash, a detective attached to the Homicide Squad at the Central Detective Unit(CDU), said police have classified the death as a case of sudden death. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of the man’s death.

Cash said CDU was contacted as a result of the injuries to the body. Police suspect the insect or rodent injuries were inflicted after the man’s death.

“But again, we will have to await an autopsy report to make a professional determination as to the cause of death,”said Cash.
