BSSN celebrates its salsa achievers

The Bahamas Salsa Social Network(BSSN)celebrated a milestone on January 16. After a stellar debut performance at the Ballroom Blitz in Orlando, an event hosted by World Promotions, the World Dance Arts Foundation and the World Salsa Federation, in Florida last November, members of the team of 16 were presented with their individual awards during a ceremony held at the British Colonial Hilton on the afternoon of the 16th.

Among special guests was the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Charles Maynard. Team members are pictured with the minister above.

The BSSN was founded in January 2010 by instructors Indira Francis and Chris Mortimer. The active network held a camp last summer and holds weekly salsa lessons at the Hilton each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The organization plans to host the Bahamas Dance Festival in April, in conjunction with World Promotions. The festival includes”Dance for a Life”, a fundraiser for the medical fund of a five-year-old Bahamian child with cancer.
