Five armed robberies during the weekend
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding five armed robbery incidences which occurred over the weekend.
Police Press Liaison Officer Sergeant Chrislyn Skippings reported that the first incident took place sometime around 3.18 p.m. on Friday.
It is reported that police received information of an armed robbery at the T. G. Glover construction site on Pitt Road.
Police say three men, all armed with handguns, entered the office at the construction site and demanded cash. They allegedly got away with an undetermined amount of cash, and an employee’s 2006 white Chevy Suburban. They made good their escape in an unknown direction.
Skippings said a short while later police acting on information proceeded to Bain Street, off Nassau Street area, where they recovered the Chevy Suburban. An active investigation is ongoing.
Hours later, sometime around 9.30 p.m. on Friday, police received information of an armed robbery at the Texaco Service Station on Carmichael Road.
According to police two men on a red and white Aprilia Pegaso 650 Trail motorcycle pulled into the service station. Police say the passenger on the motorcycle entered the store, placed a towel over his face, produced a handgun and demanded cash. An undetermined amount of cash and cell phone cards were stolen from the store. The culprits left in an unknown direction.
And an armed robbery at a Bacardi Road residence is also being investigated.
Police say that a man had just arrived at his home when he was approached by two mask gunmen, one of whom had a shotgun. They both wore dark clothing. The man was robbed of his black 2000 Nissan Maxima, license plate 8008. The culprits headed in the direction of Carmichael Road.
Investigations are continuing.
A 44-year-old male was held up and robbed by three men while walking on Cordeaux Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday.
The man reported that he was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash and was struck in the head with an unknown object. He is currently in serious condition in hospital.
La Sells Drugs and Notion, located in the Kennedy Subdivision, was robbed shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Two men, one of whom was armed, entered the establishment and demanded cash. The culprits made good their escape with an undetermined amount of cash, a laptop and a cell phone. They reportedly fled the area in an unknown direction.
The matter is under investigation by police.
