City Market officials inspect GB stores

City Market officials recently conducted site inspections in Grand Bahama following the recent announcement of expansion plans for City Market stores around the country.

Chairman of Bahamas Supermarkets Ltd.(BSL) Mark Finlayson and BSL’s legal advisor Jerome Fitzgerald visited the three locations on that island, seeking to ensure that the stores are in line with the company’s policies and standards. The inspections involved checking stock levels and product variety.

According to a statement sent toGuardian Business, Finlayson spoke to managers at the locations in Grand Bahama and assured them that a major push by the food chain’s new management team is geared towards integrating new marketing formats, equipment upgrades and product enhancement. He also told managers that he was pleased with the level of dedication and professionalism they display on a daily basis which he said is bringing customers into the stores.

The City Market executives also examined damage incurred as a result of a small fire at the downtown store earlier this month.

Along for the inspection was Jim Dunn, area sales director, direct imports from SuperValu. SuperValu is the major supplier of groceries, frozen and dairy items to City Market stores.
