Internet company offering Google Apps to customers
After hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in infrastructure, a Family Island-based Internet company has formed a partnership with Google in an effort to expand its business and increase its product offerings.
Bahamas WiMax, an Abaco-based wireless
internet service provider, has reached an agreement with Google to bring the Google Apps suite of products to its customers.
CEO of the Bahamas WiMax Matthew Carey said forming such a partnership is a milestone for the company, a first of many to come in the future.
“We are pleased to announce that we have formed a strategic partnership with Google to host our new email and portal services,”Carey said.”This is very exciting, as it will enable us to provide our customers with the latest email technology through Google’s dynamic suite of communication applications.”
Google Apps offers simple, powerful communication and collaboration tools for any size business all hosted by Google to streamline set up, minimize maintenance, and reduce information technology costs. The suite includes e-mail, calendaring, mobile e-mail for smart phones, and online collaboration tools, and is ideal for businesses as well as individuals.
“This differentiates us in the marketplace and fits corporate goals and adds good value for our customers,”Carey added.”This is also a good fit for small and medium-sized businesses as well and will fit all of their needs.”
The Bahamas WiMax CEO also mentioned the decision to partner with Google was based on how effectively the U.S.-based company met the technology needs he was seeking.
“We were really trying to offer a good value to the service and we look at several options, and Google by far had the best applications we saw,”he said.”Over the past year we had pretty high demand for email accounts and push accounts for people who have smart phones and its a real advantage to get it on your smart phone now. The overall concept is to enhance value. This is just another example of how we are bringing leading edge technology and value our customers.”
Carey said all of Bahamas WiMax current 500-plus residential customers will receive a Google Apps account at no charge, and all new residential customers will receive an account as part of their Internet Packages.
Bahamas WiMax is dedicated to providing carrier-grade data and telecommunications services as an alternative to wire-based utilities such as telephone and cable companies. Presently serving Marsh Harbour, Abaco and its surrounding communities, Bahamas WiMax offers a wide variety of fast, secure solutions with connectivity and dedicated support for businesses and homes.
