HPH hosts tour and careerinitiative for Family Island students

Seventy students, accompanied by teachers from government schools in the Family Islands, are on Grand Bahama for the next three days. The group is participating in the Familiarization Tour and Career Initiative for Family Island Students, an innovative erudition program organized and coordinated by Hutchinson Port Holdings group of companies, Freeport Container Port, Freeport Harbour Company and Grand Bahama Airport Company.

Gary Gilbert, CEO, met the students and teachers on arrival and welcomed them to the island to participate in this special program geared towards giving them a firsthand look at what Grand Bahama has to offer.

“Our companies regularly look to attract the brightest and the best and we feel that this program will give them an insight into what we do and, hopefully, lead them to consider us and Grand Bahama, should the opportunity arise,”said Mr. Gilbert.

The Minister of Education, the Hon. Desmond Bannister, M.P. will be the special guest at the closing dinner on Thursday at Our Lucaya Resort when he will address the students.

Prior to the closing dinner, Our Lucaya Resort will host an Etiquette Session for the students.

The students and chaperones will be visiting between Wednesday and Friday. Included in their itinerary will be tours to the East End and West End of the island, and of the Grand Bahama Airport Company, Freeport Harbour Company, Freeport Container Port, and the Bahama Rock Plant.
