Man shot during armed robbery
A man received minor injuries when he was shot during an armed robbery attempt on Friday.
According to police, the shooting victim was at Mount Royal Avenue around 8:10 p.m. when three men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, surrounded him and demanded cash.
The gunman shot the man in the shoulder when he refused. The culprits fled in an unknown direction.
The man was taken to hospital, where he was treated and discharged.
Police also made two firearms arrests on Friday. Officers from the Central Intelligence Unit found two magazines containing ammunition in bushes off Cotton Street, Pinewood Gardens around 4:50 p.m.
And officers from Operation Rapid Strike arrested a 22-year-old man of Quarry Mission Road when they found him with a handgun and ammunition.
Officers were on routine patrol on Parker Street, off Meadow Street when they saw a man acting suspiciously. Officers conducted a search of the male and recovered a handgun with ammunition. He was taken into custody. Police investigations continue.
Police also made three drug arrests over the weekend.
A teenage girl was arrested at the pre-clearance lounge at the Lynden Pindling International Airport after police allegedly found her with a quantity of cocaine around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers from the Mobile Division were on routine patrol on East Street South when they saw a man behaving suspiciously in a white 1994 Honda Accord, license plate number 150127. The officers searched the car and found a quantity of marijuana. Police arrested the 30-year-old of McQuay Street following the find.
And police arrested three men when they found an unspecified amount of marijuana at a home on Boyd and Farrington Roads around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Officers arrested the men ages 20, 23 and 29 years old.
