Two males murdered during weekend

Two murders occurred during the weekend, pushing the murder rate to 67.

On Saturday a man was shot to death in the Pinewood Gardens community.

According to police, the body of the unidentified man was discovered with multiple gunshot injuries on Sapodilla Boulevard around 2:20 a.m.

The second murder occurred on Windsor Lane, off Market Street. Police received a call shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday.  When they arrived on the scene they met a male with stab wounds.  It is alleged that he was involved in an altercation with another male.  He subsequently fled the scene of the incident but later collapsed and died. The suspect in the matter was turned into police, reportedly by a relative.

Last week on Wednesday, Ernst Lacroix, 38, a former police officer, was shot and killed in Yellow Elder Gardens.

Police said area residents called them after hearing gunshots.

When police arrived shortly after midnight they found a man lying in a yard at West Dennis Court with gunshot injuries, according to police reports.

Police are also uncertain of the circumstances surrounding Lacroix’s shooting.
