Man charged with Windsor Lane murder
Police have charged a 21-year-old man of Wulff Road with Sunday’s stabbing death of Anwa Thompson.
Ovando Woodside appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez yesterday to face the charge.
According to police, Thompson was in a fight with another man around 5 p.m. at Windsor Lane, near Market Street, when the killing occurred.
Woodside was not required to enter a plea to the charge.
Prosecutor Katherine Darling said prosecutors plan to short-circuit a preliminary inquiry in the magistrate’s court and send the matter directly to the Supreme Court.
Woodside did not have a lawyer. He has been remanded to prison and makes his next court appearance on September 8.
