Attempted murder charge upgraded to murder
Prosecutors have filed a murder charge against Robert Ryan Smith after the death of his alleged victim.
Police had initially charged Smith, 24, with the attempted murder of Winfield Kino Smith, who was shot in a drive-by shooting on East Street south on June 17.
Smith died in hospital on June 24. Smith appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez yesterday on the murder charge.
He was not required to enter a plea and has been denied bail.
Prosecutors plan to fast-track his case to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment. He returns to court on September 6.
