Shooting suspect shot by police

Police shot a man on Fritz Lane who they believe was responsible for a shooting another man moments earlier on Peter Street yesterday afternoon.

According to police, around 1:30p.m. they received information about the shooting at Peter Street off East Street.

On arrival to the scene police found a man suffering from a gunshot injury to the shoulder.

Acting on information they received at the scene, police proceeded to Fritz Lane where they observed a man who they were told shot the other man.

Officers approached the suspect, who then reportedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it in the direction of the officers.

Police shot the suspect in the leg.

Both men were taken to hospital by ambulance and their conditions were unknown.  Police said a handgun and ammunition were recovered from the suspected shooter.  Active police investigations continue.
