Authentic Christmas Ornament Show and more takes over the Wyndham Resort
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas — and if you need ornaments to decorate the Christmas tree, then the Authentic Christmas Ornament Show and More is the place to source local handcrafted ornaments for your tree.
The show takes place today and Saturday at the Wyndham Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace Casino from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
With approximately 30 booths showcasing authentic ornaments, crafts, gifts and food, show coordinator Rowena Rolle says it’s the show you want to be at this weekend. There will be a culinary corner set up where patrons can sample Bahamian delights, and a kiddie’s corner with interests for the younger set.
A Christmas tree, fully decorated with authentic Bahamian products, will be one of the fantastic giveaways on the day.
“We want Bahamians to have their own handcrafted local ornaments on their tree,” said Rolle.
Contrary to popular belief, she says local handcrafted ornaments are competitive price-wise.
“It’s not really as expensive, and you can get local, handcrafted ornaments from $2 and up. It just depends. Every year I do a mixed tree with a little traditional and 75 percent local handcrafted Christmas tree ornaments that are beautiful.”
An ornament competition will also be held to identify the most creative, indigenous and authentic ornament produced by local artisans. They will be judged on creativity, originality, sampling, and product finish. Ornament producers can enter on the day.
The Christmas Ornament Show and More is a spin-off from the Authentically Bahamian Christmas Show.
