Bishop Randy Fraser found guilty
A guilty verdict handed down this morning for Pilgrim Baptist Church Bishop Earl Randy Fraser.
Following numerous delays, Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethel gave her final decision.
In court this morning, Bethel said she didn’t believe anything Fraser had to say and she believed the victims’ testimony was truthful.
Fraser was sentenced to 3 years at her majesty’s prison and was immediately taken into custody.
The verdict was expected Monday, but the deputy chief magistrate did not appear for court.
Fraser was convicted for abusing his position of trust by having sex with a 16 year old girl he was counseling between july 2005 and february2006.
In 2007 magistrate Marilyn Meeres discharged the case against Fraser, but it was reinstated on appeal.
Although the victim had reached the age of consent, the prosecution contended that Fraser had used his position as a counselor to prey on her.
