The Prophet, the mountain top and reality

Dear Editor,

Well was it written in St. Luke 4:24-26: “And he said, ‘Verily I say unto you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.’”  I state this to lay down the postulation that the upcoming general election will be decisive relative to the future success or failure of our nation.

Over the course of the past few weeks I have offered comments and prophecy about the electoral chances of the Free National Movement (FNM) and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP).  Some have asked me whether or not I would have or had any comments regarding the newly minted Democratic National Alliance (DNA), the Bahamas Constitution Party or any of the other fringe groupings and wannabe political imitators.  My answer is simple: no.  Those entities and one man/woman bandwagons will, sooner rather than later, go the way of the dodo bird.

The upcoming elections will be fought amongst the dominant two parties.  The FNM is on the proverbial rope and the PLP is still seeking to find its way back from the ignoble defeat in 2007.  The leaders of those two parties are both at the last stage of their appearances in the political arena.

Yes, age and maturity may have their places in national life.  The time has come, however, when a Joshua must step forward and lead The Bahamas into the proverbial land of ‘milk and honey’.  It has been almost 40 years since we, as a people, began our trek into the wilderness experience.  The year 2012 will see the coming of the ‘glory’ of the Lord and the economic and constitutional emancipation of all Bahamians.

That ‘Joshua’ has already appeared on the political scope and he, for sure, does not resemble either Messrs. Ingraham or Christie and he, certainly, does not look like Branville McCartney.  The prophecy as to his identity has been revealed to me by Jehovah Jiri.  Since the gender is male, it obviously cannot be a female.

In the days of Elijah, the false gods of the Phoenicians held sway over much of Israel and all were ordered to pay homage to them, especially Baal, under threat of execution by Queen Jezebel.  Prophets and proponents of the Most High God, were slaughtered and put to death in the most painful of manners.  Elijah, almost alone amongst the ‘true’ prophets, survived trials and persecutions.

I have come to declare to Bahamians that as it was in the days of old, so will it be in 2012.   The Bahamas will be restored and refreshed at the shores of living waters.  The political uncertainties which now beset the nation will dissolve and the dark mist which now obscures our collective vision will melt away.

My fellow Bahamians, under the wise regime of Joshua all responsible and ambitious Bahamians will be able to access affordable pieces of land on which to build primary residences.  Our garbage collection and disposal will become state of the art; our educational system will cater to the holistic growth and development of all of our children; universal healthcare will become a reality; crime and the fear of crime, while they will still exist, will become like a distant memory; comprehensive and sensible laws will be enacted.

Who is that Joshua?  Is he currently within the ranks of the FNM or the PLP?  I say yes – that he serves currently in the House of Assembly and is only biding his time until the ‘prophet’ would publicly call him forth and anoint him as commanded by Jehovah Jiri.

Yes, there are mountains to climb and giants that must be faced but the reality of the word of the Lord must stand.

Is he able and capable of taking us across the proverbial Jordan?  Yes.  Is he able to command the support of a majority of the members of the House of Assembly?  Yes.  Is he still ‘youthful’ and is he a lawyer?  Yes to the first part, and no to the second.  In ancient times, it was assumed that God had made his earthly dwelling upon the heights of Mount Moriah.

It really does not matter, however, where God resides.  What is important is that a change is about to take place in the nation and no force on earth or in heaven will be able to stop it.  Lawyers, in the main, have dominated our political landscape and have made a ‘mess’ of governance hitherto here before.  As in Spain, as in Italy and as in Jamaica, the winds of change are stirring and will soon reach the shores of The Bahamas.

Yes my friends, enemies and countrymen, our Joshua, our political savior is in place.  In January 2012 his identity will be revealed to the nation.  It is also written: “Lord God of Abraham…let it be known that thou art God in Israel and that I am thou servant…I” (I Kings 18v36).

To God then, in all of these things, be the glory.
