Top Gifts that are sure to Please
Shopping can be a pleasure for some and a pain for others.
And while the yuletide seasons usually translates in joyous experiences, shopping trips can quickly turn into an agonizing one for those who aren’t sure what to buy.
But it doesn’t have to be an ordeal if you know exactly what you want.
So, The Nassau Guardian’s Gift Guide is making it easy for shoppers who may still be confused about what gifts are hits and what gifts are not.
Obviously, each present depends on the person one is buying for but there are several gifts that are almost sure to be winners.
With the technological advances of the day, electronics gifts are a no-brainer. Anything from iPods and iPads to flat screen televisions to the latest smart phones are very popular this year.
Prince Turnquest, Manager of Electronic Solutions on Rosetta Street, said flat screen televisions (40 inches or more) are top sellers for males.
Men like it big,” Turnquest said.
“Males are pretty much into sports. And being sports fans, they go home or gather together to watch pretty much all the major sports whether it is basketball, football or baseball. They like to watch the big screen.” He said the large flat screen televisions range from $699.95 to $1,699.95
For women, Turnquest recommends a digital camera.
“Most of our sales with women has been for the digital camera. For them taking pictures is their thing. With all the occasions that is coming up especially for December – junkanoo and parties – I think they would like to capture the moments.”
Hepburn said laptops are also popular with both genders.
It’s the same with smart phones, according to a BTC representative. And with the pending introduction of 4G network, smart phones are expected to get even more popular.

According to Lightbourne, Fashionista Boutique, which is on Shirley Street, offers “different, eccentric fashion pieces”. The jewelry ranges from $10 to $50. “So it’s very affordable,” she added.
