Eleven men taken into custody
In two separate incidents officers of Operation Rapid Strike removed two weapons off the streets of New Providence.
Police reports indicate that around 9:20 p.m. on Friday officers were on routine patrol in the area of Market and Wilson Streets when they observed a group of men acting suspiciously.
Officers conducted a search of the area where the men were and discovered a handgun and ammunition.
As a result, 11 men were taken into custody.
In the second incident, officers arrested a 28-year-old man of Rupert Dean Lane after he was found in possession of a high-powered weapon and a large quantity of ammunition.
Officers arrested the man around 10:36 p.m. on Friday after they conducted a search of his residence and discovered the items.
In addition, officers of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) arrested a male resident of Hope Gardens after he was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition.
Reports indicate that the 21-year-old was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Price Street, Nassau Village.
Police are also questioning a 15-year-old juvenile boy in connection with an armed robbery and stabbing incident.
The incident reportedly occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Initial police reports indicate that a 21-year old-man was walking on Marlborough Street in the area of West Street when he was robbed and subsequently stabbed by two males.
A short while later police arrested a juvenile who was found in possession of the reported stolen items.
The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in serious condition.
Active police investigations continue in all of these matters.
