Haitian found dead on Exuma
Police believe a Haitian man found dead in Exuma on Thursday was among a group of Haitian nationals who arrived on the island onboard a sloop this week.
Fifty-six illegal Haitian migrants were found on a sloop in shallow waters west of Barreterre, Exuma on Tuesday evening.
Police on Exuma told The Guardian that they believe more people were onboard that sloop but managed to get away.
They suspect the dead man was among them.
His body was discovered at the back of a property in Bahama Sound shortly after 12 p.m. Thursday.
The black male was wearing a white t-shirt and white shorts, according to authorities.
Police did not specify how the man died.
As investigations into his death continue, officials say they are still searching the area where he was found for additional illegal migrants.
This is the second time Haitians have been apprehended in Exuma this week.
On Christmas day, 244 Haitian migrants were apprehended on that island.
