Is keeping the ignorant a plan?

Dear Editor,

The minister of education cannot continue on the old game plan to keep the people ignorant, especially of their rights.

If there is a genuine fiber in any of the movers and shakers of our educational system, then the only way to clear your conscience is to move with breakneck speed and start the implementation of the teaching of the constitution of The Bahamas.

First world countries teach their citizenry their constitutions, and from very young too. What about us?

Not knowing the constitution is an easy way to take advantage or people. I dare say that there are simply too many horror stories of people’s rights being trampled.

The judiciary, attorney general, Eugene Dupuch Law School and The University of The Bahamas, if they are worth their salt, should stop at nothing until this backward system catches up with the rest of the civilized world. There is absolutely no excuse or explanation why it has taken this long for it to be implemented in all of the schools in the Bahamas’ curriculum.

It is high time for us to have a more informed society, maybe then we would see a more supportive, enlightened and cooperative people.
Laser focused!
