Woman fined for marijuana possession

A nail technician has been fined for drug possession.

Robynique Thompson, 24, of Mackey Street, was arrested on December 19 after police executed a search warrant on her home.

She admitted to having 1.78 ounces of marijuana at her arraignment before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Clifford Daxon, police went to the house with a search warrant.

Daxon said that the drug sniffing dogs that accompanied the officers alerted them to the presence of drugs.

The officers found the marijuana in a bathroom, Daxon said,Thompson’s lawyer, Ian Cargill, said that she had been smoking for two years and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

Forbes convicted Thompson of the offense and gave her the opportunity to a avoid a two-month prison sentence by paying a $200 fine.
