Murder suspect charged in Grove shooting

Police have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with a murder that occurred in Coconut Grove. Leander Bell, of Rosebud Street, Chippingham, appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with the May 14 shooting death of Jason Edgecombe at Fourth Street.

Bell was not required to enter a plea to the charge during his appearance in the lower court, as the charge can only be tried in the Supreme Court. The matter is expected to be transferred to the Supreme Court by a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) on August 21.

Bell was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections in the interim. Lennox Coleby represents Bell.
