Bahamian minor leaguers in action

Several Bahamian Minor League Baseball players were in action on Wednesday night.

Shortstop Lucius Fox saw action for the Charlotte Stone Crabs as they defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays, 3-1, in Class A Advanced action. The Stone Crabs now sport a 26-29 win/loss record. Fox had a quiet game as he was hitless in three at-bats, but he did manage to score when designated hitter Brendan McKay hit a home run in the first inning. Fox is having a good season despite the outing on Wednesday night. He is averaging a career best .296 through 47 games. Fox has 56 hits this season including one home run. He also has 12 stolen bases.

Fox and his Stone Crabs played last night against the Blue Jays again, but the result of that game was unavailable up to press time.

They will play the Clearwater Threshers tonight. The Stone Crabs are affiliated with Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Tampa Bay Rays.

Kane County Cougars’ shortstop Jasrado Chisholm was also in action on Wednesday night when they took on the Peoria Chiefs. They won 7-1. Chisholm went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. He has a batting average of .266 for the season. Chisholm has 47 hits and 29 runs this season. He has hit seven home runs in 44 games, and is on the way to having a much better season than he did a year ago.

The Cougars played the Chiefs again last night but the result of that game was unavailable up to press time. They will play the Clinton LumberKings tonight. The Cougars are affiliated with MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks.

Grand Bahamian Chavez Young had a good game on Wednesday night despite not scoring. His Lansing Lugnuts were victorious over the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 2-0. Young finished 2-for-4 while driving in a run. He is hitting .332 this season and has a stolen base. Over the last 10 games alone, Young is averaging .450 and has seven RBIs.

The Lugnuts played the Hot Rods again last night but the result of that game was unavailable up to press time. They will play the Fort Wayne TinCaps tonight. The Lugnuts are affiliated with MLB’s Toronto Blue Jays.
