Chisholm hits ninth home-run for the season

Bahamian all-star shortstop with the Kane County Cougars in Minor League Baseball Jasrado Chisholm hit a home-run to help his team defeat the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 6-2, in Wednesday night action at Northwestern Medicine field in Geneva, Illinois, USA.

The Kernels got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning as designated hitter Royce Lewis was driven home by catcher Robert Molina. Molina delivered a hit to left field.

In his first at bat, Chisholm hit a fly ball to left fielder Jacob Pearson to come up empty in the bottom of the first. However, when he came to bat in the bottom of the third with the Kernels up 1-0, Chisholm delivered. He hit a line drive two-run home-run to right center field to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead. Jancarlos Cintron scored for the Cougars on Chisholm’s shot.

The Cougars never looked back as they scored in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. The Kernels scored one more run in the fifth inning but that was it for them.

Scoring in the fourth for the Cougars was right fielder Ernie De La Trinidad. He scored on a single by third baseman Luis Lara.

De La Trinidad scored again for the Cougars on a single to right field by Lara in the fifth.

Chisholm tripled to deep center field, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by catcher Renae Martinez.

Cintron hit a single to left field to bring home left fielder Yan Sanchez and wrap up the scoring for the Cougars, ending the game 6-2 in their favor.

Chisholm finished 2-for-5 with a home-run, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. For the season, he is batting .254 with nine home-runs and 25 RBIs.

Chisholm was in action last night as the Cougars took on the Kernels again, but the result of that game was unavailable up to press time.
