Man killed, witness shot

A man was shot dead and another injured on Baillou Hill Road early Friday morning, according to authorities, who said three men were arrested in connection with the double shooting.

According to reports, a bystander observed a group of men chasing a man along the street around 2 a.m.

One of the pursuers caught up with the victim and shot him, police said.

He died on scene. His identity was not released.

The gunman also shot the man who observed the incident.

He was admitted to hospital and later discharged.

The incident drove the murder count in The Bahamas up to 57.

This is the second murder in five days.

A man died in hospital on Sunday after he was shot by someone in a car that pulled up alongside him.

The shooting occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on Homestead Street.

Police said the man was standing in the street when the incident happened.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a Ford.

The victim ran to a nearby home and was assisted in getting to hospital.

He was identified yesterday as Shanindore Neely, 30, of Charles Saunders Highway.
