American arrested in LPIA cocaine bust
An American man was arrested on Tuesday on board an airplane at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) in connection with nearly five pounds of cocaine, authorities said.
According to reports, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit and U.S. Border Control acting on information boarded the aircraft which was prepared for departure to Atlanta and discovered a parcel of cocaine in the lavatory.
The officers made all passengers disembark the aircraft and continued searching the plane.
A search of the departure lounge in the airport also led to the discovery of a second parcel of suspected cocaine in one of the male restrooms.
Authorities said a total of 4.6 pounds was discovered.
The drugs have a reported street value of $30,000.
