43rd Chess Olympiad update – round three
There were amazing results for The Bahamas. The open team crushed Gabon with three wins by Chappell Whyms, National Master Byron Small and Fide Master Cecil Moncur and with a draw by WCM Polina Karelina competing at her first Olympiad.
In the women’s section, Woman Candidate Master Daijah Johnson slowly dominated her opponent to win on board one, while Trinity Pinder got a come-from behind victory to win on board four.
All three junior players scored their first points this round.
It was a great job by all the members of team Bahamas, but they will not have time to celebrate, as round four began yesterday and harder opponents are ahead.
Round four pairings
In the women’s section, 138-ranked Bahamas will face off against 124-ranked Palau.
In the open section 164-ranked Bahamas will take on 87-ranked Andorra.
