The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association’s (BLTA) Senior National Championships wrapped up over the weekend at the Gym Tennis Club in Winton Meadows. The two-week event was sponsored by Corner Bank and P&C Supplies, and included competition in singles, doubles and mixed doubles in a number of age groups.
Winning the Ladies 35 Singles category was Kelly Kerr and the runner-up was Rita Roy. Taking the Ladies 35 Doubles title was the team of Kerr and Tara Mactaggart, and the runners-up were Marion Bain and Richette Percentie.
The men’s 35 singles winner was Robbie Isaacs, and the runner-up was Brent Johnson. Capturing the Men’s 35 Doubles title were Owen Forbes and Larry Rolle and the runners-up were Bjorn Ferguson and Devlin Fisher.
The mixed 35 doubles champions were Robbie Isaacs and Kerr, and the runners-up were Jon Isaacs and Percentie.
The men’s 45 singles champion was Stephen Thompson, and the runner-up was Johnson. The men’s 45 doubles champions were Thompson and Johnson, and the runners-up were Terry North and Mickey Williams.
Winning the Men’s 55 Singles category was Thompson, and the runner-up was Jon Isaacs.
Finally, winning the Men’s 65 Singles category was Austin Burrows, and the runner-up was Mike Lightbourne.
Bradley Bain was the referee of the tournament which featured some of the best seniors players in the country over the age of 35.
The BLTA congratulates the various trophy winners for their display of skills and showmanship during the course of the tournament.
Also, special thanks is extended by the BLTA to Mickey Williams and the organizing committee, referee Bradley Bain, the Gym Tennis Club, Corner Bank, P&C Supplies and all of the participants and spectators who supported the 2018 senior nationals.
