Man found shot dead through track road

A man in his mid-20s was found shot dead shortly after 6 a.m. yesterday through a track road off Eneas Jumper Corner, police said.

According to Chief Superintendent Solomon Cash, “The only information we are working with is that some resident from this area was walking in this location where they saw this [man] lying unresponsive.

“In conducting additional inquiries, we received reports that shortly after 6 a.m. persons heard what appeared to be gunshot sounds [and] as a result 911 was called.”

Cash said there was an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso of the body.

He noted that police are uncertain as to the motive behind the latest killing, but appealed to members of the public who live in the area or who may have been passing the area during the time of the incident to contact the police at 911 or 919.

The latest incident takes the country’s murder count to 78 for the year.
