Man in custody after alleged acid attack

A 31-year-old woman was injured and hospitalized shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday, after a man threw a liquid substance on her.

The Guardian understands that the man was someone she knew.

Police said the woman was at a bus stop on John F. Kennedy Drive when the man approached her and caused grievous bodily harm.

Police were unable to indicate if the liquid substance was acid.

The woman was taken to hospital, where she was treated and later discharged.

Police said they have a 41-year-old man of Tall Pines in custody in connection with the matter.
