Guardian promotes Cartwright-Carroll to assistant news editor

The Nassau Guardian has promoted Travis Cartwright-Carroll to assistant news editor.

The promotion takes effect December 1.

“Travis is one of the talented young people in news in The Bahamas. He has demonstrated commitment to the organization and the intelligence and tenacity to succeed in his new post,” said Brent Dean, Guardian general manager.

“In his new role, Travis will help coordinate and supervise the main section of the newspaper. I have confidence that through his expanded responsibilities he will help strengthen the newspaper.”

Cartwright-Carroll is currently a senior reporter. He joined The Nassau Guardian in 2011 as a copy editor before shifting to reporting. He will report to Candia Dames, who serves as managing editor and news editor.

“It is an honor to be appointed to this new position, and I thank my editors and the owners of The Nassau Guardian for the confidence they have reposed in me,” said Cartwright-Carroll.

“Since joining the team in 2011, I have done my best to live up to the expectations of my peers and editors. There is a team of dedicated professionals at this paper who go above and beyond. I hope to continue this tradition and move the paper to new heights.”
