Police probe armed robberies; report drug bust
Police were yesterday searching for the men behind a carjacking and a beauty store holdup on Thursday.
Reports are that around 8 p.m., an armed man entered a beauty salon on Balfour Avenue, held employees and customers at bay, and robbed a woman of her handbag before running from the store.
In the second incident, police said shortly after 11 p.m., a man was sitting in his vehicle on West Bay Street opposite the entrance to Arawak Cay, when he was approached by an armed man, who robbed him of cash and his red 2016 Honda Civic.
Police reported that on the same day, around 4:35 p.m., Drug Enforcement Unit officers, “acting on information”, executed a search warrant at a house on Cowpen Road.
They reported recovering 18 plastic packages of marijuana, weighing 33 pounds, 10 ounces and five grams of cocaine.
Police said the drugs are valued at around $33,000.
A man was taken into custody and is expected to be charged in relation to the bust next week.
