Four arraigned after marijuana bust

Police have charged a man and three women over the seizure of 12 1/2 pounds of marijuana.

Alex Sawyer, 34, of Skyline Drive; Eleanor Major, 24, of Skyline Drive; Saberina Walker, 31, of Glinton Square; and Roeline Benjamin, 30, of Glinton Square, were charged in connection with the December 3 seizure.

They denied a charge of drug possession with intent to supply at their arraignment before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.

Officers carried out a search warrant on a home and found 12 pounds and eight ounces of marijuana.

Sawyer alone faced a separate charge of drug possession with intent to supply in relation to the seizure of three ounces of marijuana on the same date.

He is also accused of offering a $1,000 bribe to ASP Pierre to prevent him from acting in the execution of his duty.

Sawyer also pleaded not guilty.

They have been remanded to prison and return to court on March 14 for trial.
