The Blue Waves Swim Club (BWSC) team members helped spread holiday cheer to the residents of the Demetrius Home and Care Center in Fox Hill on Saturday, delivering much needed care packages.

The swim club, led by coach Dellan Brown, presented gifts to the 22 members of the home for the elderly. The care packages included house dresses, undershirts, underwear, tams, socks, personal care items and blankets.

More importantly, the young swimmers spent time getting to know the residents.

“The children sang Christmas carols and fellowshipped with the residents of the center,” said Charmaine Rollins, BWSC vice president, who spearheaded the event.

“We decided to adopt them as our grandparents so, this won’t be the last time they’ll see us. Our kids loved visiting with their new ‘grandparents’. Everyone had a wonderful time. We have a grueling practice schedule, but we’ll be sure to come back and visit our ‘grandparents’ soon.”
