Bahamasair cancels flights to Treasure Cay

Bahamasair has canceled flights to Treasure Cay, Abaco, as a result of non-working runway lights in Marsh Harbour.

Tracy J. Cooper, the airline’s managing director, said the adjustment to service will continue until further notice.

“Bahamasair has been advised that the runway lights in Marsh Harbour are not working,” Cooper said in a statement.

“As a result, Bahamasair wishes to advise the traveling public that our scheduled evening service in and out of Abaco has been adjusted to accommodate daytime flying.”

He added: “All Treasure Cay-bound passengers will be accommodated through Marsh Harbour.”

Flight 137 from Nassau to Marsh Harbour will depart at 4 p.m. and flight 138 from Marsh Harbour to Nassau will depart at 4:55 p.m., according to Cooper.

The airline is asking ticketed passengers “to arrive at the airport ahead of flight time to ensure a smooth check-in process”.

Bahamasair has faced several challenges in recent months.

In December, Bahamasair experienced major delays and cancellations as a result of poor weather, mechanical issues and challenges stemming from a power outage in Nassau.
