The Artist and Geovanni Robinson to perform at Nassau Night Market
Rapper-singer Alexandria “The Art1st” Marshall and singer Geovanni Robinson take to this stage this weekend at the fourth edition of the Nassau Night Market (NNM).
Marshall has been performing as a solo music artist for about two years and sang her song “The Antidote” at the Nassau Night Market on December 29, 2018.
“I like the idea of Bahamians coming together to express and share their talents, ideas and products,” she said. “This is what the NNM is about – giving visitors and Bahamians a place they can go for a real Bahamian experience. The creativity of the entrepreneurs, the vibrancy of the entertainers – it’s a great thing and it’s only going to get bigger and bigger every week.”
Robinson has been writing, singing, and performing since he was six years old. In 2016 he released his song “WAVY”. His upcoming performance at NNM leads up to the release of his newest tape later this month.
Robinson says he was inspired to perform by the hip-hop group Nuvera Era, his friends who performed at the first NNM.
“What I really admire is the NNM’s support for local creatives,” said Robinson. “The creative community needs to stick together and support each other. We’re all we got.”
Robinson will perform at 8 p.m. on the stage at Market Slope, east of the Straw Market, with Marshall tapped to hit the stage at 9 p.m. Entrance is free.
In addition to the entertainers, visitors to NNM will find food vendors such as Junior’s Jerk Pit, Chop’s Conchy Conch, Savage Cookies, Rushin Wings, Divine Flavor, Marooned Chicken Stop and Nature’s Candy. Specialty drink seller Bahama Capris and artisans showcasing 100 percent handmade products will include Chevy’s Accessories, Rose Essentials, Natural Scrubs, Beagard Land and Sea Designs, Kloset Konfessions and Emajoriginals.
