Man attacked with cutlass
A man was brutally attacked with a sharp object yesterday in the Mount Pleasant Village area in New Providence, police said.
According to police, shortly after 2 p.m., two men were engaged in a fight when one of the men began to attack the other with a sharp object, most likely a cutlass.
Police reported that the victim drove himself to Lyford Cay Clinic, where he was treated.
The victim suffered serious injuries to the head, but they were not life threatening, police said.
Nobody has been taken into custody in connection with the event, and police urged the public to come forward with any information they may have on the matter.
Police said they could not confirm whether the incident is related to a video that made rounds on social media yesterday.
The video showed a man being a being attacked by another man with a cutlass, reportedly in the Lyford Cay area.
Many people voiced concerns over the lack of intervention from bystanders.
According to the 2018 crime statistics, there were 19 attempted murders in The Bahamas last year, an increase of 46 percent from 2017.
