Three charged with separate murders
Murder squad detectives on Monday charged three suspects with separate crimes that occurred earlier this month.
Joel Bullard, 21, of Lincoln Boulevard; Shaquille Culmer, 25, of West Street; and Rashad Paul, 28, of Market Street, all faced non-capital murder charges when they made their initial court appearances before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt yesterday.
Prosecutors say Bullard fatally shot Gary Leon outside a bar on Miami Street around 11 p.m. on February 1.
Culmer is accused of the fatal shooting of Randolph Anderson, who was also known as Dion Brice, at Rosedale Street and Mackey Street around 3 a.m. on February 2.
Culmer’s lawyer, Bjorn Ferguson, alleged that officers beat him and told him that he “would get his things” while on remand at the prison.
Paul, who is otherwise known as Eyes, is accused of killing Kirby Jean Pierre around 7 a.m. on February 2 in a drive-by shooting on Fritz Lane.
Ferguson-Pratt remanded all of the suspects into custody as she lacks the jurisdiction to consider bail for the offense.
They all return to court on April 5 when it is expected that the matters will be fast-tracked to the Supreme Court for trial.
