Arrest warrant issued for protester

A magistrate yesterday issued an arrest warrant for a nurse accused of assaulting a policeman during a protest against government policies last year.

Jenny Gilbert, 56, of Sea Fan Drive, Sea Breeze Estates, was supposed to be tried before Magistrate Samuel McKinney on allegations that she assaulted Corporal 2989 Barr on November 21; obstructed him in the execution of his duties; and resisted arrest.

Three witnesses were present for the case, but neither Gilbert nor her lawyer, Maria Daxon, appeared.

As a result, McKinney issued a warrant for her arrest.
