Woman accused of $200k fraud

40-year-old businesswoman yesterday denied defrauding a client of more than $200,000 in a four-month period.

Zoe Cartwright, of Lauren Street, faced eight counts of fraud by false pretenses at her arraignment before Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux.

Prosecutors say that Cartwright, who owns an investment company, obtained checks totaling $201,500 from Barbara Albries during the period October 2018 through January 15, 2019.

Cartwright, who was represented by Bjorn Ferguson, was remanded into custody as the magistrate lacked jurisdiction to grant bail.

She returns to court on March 26.
